ViVIM (Computer Vision for Multiplatform Immersive Video)

Visyion 360 - 2021/2022

The ViVIM (Computer Vision for Multiplatform Immersive Video) project started in 2019 and has aimed to adapt the cinematographic language and video production to new possibilities and immersive technologies. Likewise, the project aims to enable interactive and social experiences between remote users within virtual environments. It aims to impact on the ecosystem of creators, distributors and consumers of content.

The ViVIM project is a Catalan-wide initiative funded by ACCIÓ, the Agency for Business Competitiveness, within the action plan of the Ris3CAT Media Community promoted by the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and its consortium is made up of Eurecat, i2Cat, which coordinates the project, VISYON (GRUP MEDIAPRO), the UAB Computer Vision Center (CVC) and the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation (CCMA).

My tasks

Along with my UX/UI teammates, we designed:

  • An environment resembles an elevator, where each floor's content corresponds to a decade of CCMA video production

  • 360º environment navigation system from a user-fixed central position (for VR and 360 web)

  • “Time-travel” environment navigation through floors using a control panel where the user can move floor up/down to the next/past decade or input the desired year to visit

  • Cohesive interactions for different devices ( VR using controllers, web using mouse or touchpad, tablets and smartphones using touch interactions )

  • Techy futuristic neon UI style to help symbolize time travel through

  • UI design system to handover to VR and web development
